Almeda - Compliance

Almeda Compliance is able to offer a variety of services in order for our clients to conform to legislation and offer their own staff the training they require in order to meet various statutory requirements. Our services include:

  • Fire Risk Assessments
  • Health and Safety Risk Assessments
  • Health and Safety Training
  • Energy Performance of Buildings Requirements, including:
    - TM44
    - Energy Performance Certificates
    - Carbon Reduction Commitment Assessments

Health and Safety Assessments

Almeda Compliance are able to carry out a survey of our clients premises and provide a report based on the aspects of health and safety covered generally by the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (HASAWA) and in particular, the requirement for risk assessment in the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 (MHSW).

Site visits are undertaken to highlight potential hazards and help to reduce risks of incidents occurring. Surveys will include items such as checks on correct signage and their placing within the premises, COSHH requirements and manual handling.

"Tool Box Talk" Style Training

Tool Box Talks can take place in our client’s premises or in a location that suits the needs of the client. The training consists of a brief overview of legal requirements and a DVD presentation. Documentation is produced and offered by Almeda Compliance and are used during the session. Attendance certificates can be issued for continuing professional development (CPD) purposes where required. Topics include:

  • Risk Assessments;
  • Manual Handling;
  • Slips, Trips and Falls;
  • Working at Height;
  • COSHH.

Assistance with Arranging for First Aid Training

Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 require the employer to provide adequate and appropriate first-aid equipment, facilities and people so that your employees can be given immediate help if they are injured or taken ill at work.

Fire Risk Assessments

Almeda Compliance are able to discuss your fire procedures and carry out a site inspection. From these inspections, Almeda will produce a fire risk assessment based on the requirements of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 for England and Wales. The aim of this assessment is to identify the significant findings and, by deciding what physical fire precautions and management arrangements are necessary, to reduce the risk of hazards causing harm, thereby ensuring the safety of people in the premises if a fire does occur.

Hands-on Fire Extinguisher Training

Almeda Compliance will arrange for a trainer to attend site and give practical demonstration in the correct use of the various types of extinguisher available.

Energy Performance of Buildings Directive

An air conditioning inspection is a requirement from the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) which requires regular inspections of air conditioning installations. These inspections are in addition to the inspections required to meet Statutory and duty of care obligations.

Air conditioning inspections are designed to improve efficiency and reduce electricity consumption, operating costs and carbon emissions. Energy inspections highlight improvements to the operation of your existing installations as well as highlighting opportunities to replace older, less efficient and possibly oversized systems with new, more energy efficient systems.

Air conditioning inspections should be undertaken a maximum of 5 years apart.

Commercial premises with operational control of air conditioning systems having a cumulative output > 12kW will require an air conditioning assessment report for the system by 4th January 2011.

Air conditioning systems entering service on or after 1st January 2008 require the first inspection to be completed within 5 years of the date they entered service.

The EPBD also imposed the implementation of Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) for most property whether commercial or residential over 50m2 with only a few exceptions. An EPC provides a rating of A+ to G, rather like those seen on white goods for many years, based upon the estimated amount of carbon emitted from the building using a notional comparable building as a benchmark.

Each EPC will also include a schedule of recommendations which could be carried out to improve the performance of the building. While there is no requirement for implementation of any of these recommendations, we would advise they should be at least considered to improve the efficiency of the building concerned.

Almeda Compliance are able to provide accredited Non-Domestic Energy Assessors (NDEA) to carry out the survey on your air conditioning plant to produce an Energy Performance Certificate for your property.
